In Loving Memory of Liduvina Aguilar Ortega

September 29, 1940 – August 3, 2026

Liduvina Aguilar Ortega, who was sent from heaven on September 29, 1940, in Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico, returned home to her Lord and Savior on August 3, 2026. 

After migrating from Mexico to the United States, Liduvina soon helped bring her father and siblings to join her, giving them the opportunity to begin a new life alongside her. Family was always at the center of who she was, and caring for those she loved came naturally to her.

Liduvina lived a life defined by her deep devotion to her family and her faith. In her younger years, she held a great passion for Folklorico dance, dedicating herself to teaching young girls in elementary schools and after-school programs, passing down the beauty of her heritage to the next generation.In the mid-1970s, while working at a bindery manufacturing company, she met "Tia Lola" and, soon after, her future husband, Jose “Pepe” Ortega. As a mother, she was deeply committed to her two sons, playing an active, loving role in shaping the men they would become.

After giving her life to Christ in 1986, Liduvina immediately found a new way to pursue her passion for building up the next generation. Recognizing the need for a welcoming nursery at her church, she saw an opportunity to serve: if she could care for the children, she reasoned, their parents could focus on the Word of God. She poured her heart into the project, painting and decorating the nursery with stuffed animals and dolls. She was known for her creative—and sometimes outrageous—ideas, often putting her husband and children to work to bring her visions to life.

She committed the next 40 years to a life of service to the Lord and to all who crossed her path. She made a lasting impact on the lives of many children, serving as a teacher and co-commander for the Awana club for many years. She was perhaps best known for her "Tiendita," a special shop she created where children could exchange the church "currency" they earned for learning Bible verses for prizes like candy, pencils, and notebooks. Throughout this time, she served side-by-side with her husband, Pastor Jose Ortega, in couples counseling, cooking, prayer warrior, evangelizing, tirelessly and faithfully until her last day.In her final years, while her body grew tired and weak, her spirit and love for the Lord never wavered. She would hold firmly to her walker and declare, "In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me.

"She leaves behind a legacy of love, cherished by her husband, her sons, her daughters-in-law, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She is also remembered with deep affection by her extended family and a multitude of brothers and sisters in the faith, all of whom were touched by her kindness, her spirit, and her unwavering grace.We will forever carry the warmth of her memory in our hearts.

En memoria cariñosa de Liduvina Aguilar Ortega

Liduvina Aguilar Ortega, quien fue enviada del cielo el 29 de septiembre de 1940, en Uruapan, Michoacán, México, regresó a casa con su Señor y Salvador el 3 de agosto de 2026.

Liduvina vivió una vida definida por su profunda devoción a su familia y su fe. En sus años de juventud, tuvo una gran pasión por la danza folclórica, dedicándose a enseñar a niñas pequeñas en escuelas primarias y programas extracurriculares, transmitiendo la belleza de su herencia a la siguiente generación.

Después de emigrar de México a los Estados Unidos, Liduvina pronto ayudó a traer a su padre y a sus hermanos para que se reunieran con ella, dándoles la oportunidad de comenzar una nueva vida a su lado. La familia siempre estuvo en el centro de quién era ella, y cuidar de sus seres queridos le resultaba natural.

A mediados de la década de 1970, mientras trabajaba en una empresa de encuadernación, conoció a "Tía Lola" y, poco después, a su futuro esposo, José "Pepe" Ortega. Como madre, estuvo profundamente comprometida con sus dos hijos, desempeñando un papel activo y amoroso en la formación de los hombres en los que se convertirían.

Tras entregar su vida a Cristo en 1986, Liduvina encontró de inmediato una nueva forma de seguir su pasión por edificar a la siguiente generación. Al reconocer la necesidad de una guardería acogedora en su iglesia, vio una oportunidad de servir: razonó que si ella podía cuidar a los niños, sus padres podrían concentrarse en la Palabra de Dios. Puso todo su corazón en el proyecto, pintando y decorando la guardería con animales de peluche y muñecas. Era conocida por sus ideas creativas —y a veces extravagantes—, poniendo a menudo a su esposo e hijos a trabajar para hacer realidad sus visiones.

Dedicó los siguientes 40 años a una vida de servicio al Señor y a todos los que se cruzaron en su camino. Dejó una huella duradera en la vida de muchos niños, sirviendo como maestra y co-comandante del club Awana durante muchos años. Quizás fue más conocida por su "Tiendita", un puesto especial que creó donde los niños podían cambiar la "moneda" de la iglesia, que ganaban al aprender versículos bíblicos, por premios como dulces, lápices y cuadernos. Durante todo este tiempo, sirvió al lado con su esposo, el pastor José Ortega, en consejería matrimonial, cocinando, como guerrera de oración y evangelizando, incansable y fielmente hasta su último día.

En sus últimos años, aunque su cuerpo se volvió cansado y débil, su espíritu y su amor por el Señor nunca flaquearon. Se aferraba firmemente a su andador y declaraba: "En el nombre del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo, todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece".

Deja un legado de amor, atesorado por su esposo, sus hijos, sus nueras, sus nietos y sus bisnietos. También es recordada con profundo afecto por su familia extendida y una multitud de hermanos y hermanas en la fe, todos los cuales fueron tocados por su bondad, su espíritu y su gracia inquebrantable.
